Hypnotherapy, how does it work?
Hypnotherapy is an in-depth form of psychotherapy, which works excellently for psychological and physical complaints. The use of trance (or hypnosis) is at the heart of this therapy. It is a pleasant method that creates a calm and relaxed state of body and mind. Hypnosis Training Academy offers different types of hypnotherapy training methods.
What is Hypnosis?
Just think of being completely absorbed in a good movie. If someone comes in at that moment, you don't notice. At that moment, stimuli from outside are less noticeable. Hypnosis is a state of concentrated attention, deep relaxation, and shifting consciousness. Such an experience is called trance. Trance is therefore nothing more or less than a state of concentrated attention.
Hypnosis is the therapeutic tool I use to get you in touch with your subconscious faster and easier. You leave the environment for what it is and you concentrate on your inner world. If the attention is fixed inwards, the conscious thinking disappears and subconscious processes start to play, then there is a hypnotic trance. In hypnosis you have greater imagination, deeper relaxation and stronger concentration.
Am I in control during hypnosis?
A common belief in hypnosis is that you lose control or that it lies with the person who puts you into hypnosis . This only applies to hypnosis such as theater hypnosis. With therapeutic hypnosis you always keep control of yourself.
Modern hypnotherapy makes purposeful use of a natural form of trance that allows you to let go sufficiently, but still remain alert and aware.
Under hypnosis, your mind understands more about unconscious processes. This way you can work on emotional, psychological or physical complaints.
Is Hypnotherapy Dangerous?
Hypnosis, if used by an expert therapist, is not dangerous.
However, hypnosis carries some risks. Hypnosis may be contraindicated for those suffering from psychiatric conditions, severe depression or dementia. Also with certain medical problems, or people who actively abuse drugs or alcohol, or who are delusional or hallucinatory.
